Adding a list of external links

This optional setting permits you to add a list of URLs to a project. After that, every partner website's URL is compared with the list entries to check for concurrence.

This option is meant to ascertain whether a partner website's link to your website has been recognized and registered by a search engine (e.g. Google).

In the case of Google, this list can be obtained via "Google Webmaster Tools". For this purpose, you need to create an account with Google and submit a map of your website. Google Webmaster Tools will then provide you with detailed information on your Internet presence.

If you submitted a sitemap to Google just recently, you should wait at least 1 week (but preferably 4 weeks) until enough relevant data have accumulated.

Downloading the list of external links

• Log into your account at Google Webmaster Tools.
• Click on your website.
• In the left-hand navigation column, click on "Your website in the web".
• In the left-hand navigation column, click on "Links to your website"
• Click on "Download all external links".
• To begin downloading, click on the "Save" button and specify a storage location.

Adding a downloaded list to a project.

• Start Backlink Checker.
• Load the project.
• Select "Project - Edit project ..." from the menu bar; a dialog titled "Edit project" then appears.
• Clicking on the button labeled "Add external links..." then opens a new dialog.
Clicking on the button labeled "Import CSV table ..." opens a further dialog for setting CSV import parameters.
• Use the settings below for Google's list of external links.
  • Table separator: Comma
  • Column: 2
• Click on the button labeled "Browse..." and specify the required CSV file.
• Close all dialogs with "OK".
• Save the project.
